CPC’s 6th Plenum of 18th Central Committee Concludes

The sixth plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (C.P.C) was recently concluded on 27th Oct. in Beijing.

6th-plenumThe highly anticipated meeting attended by almost 400 members stressed on the need to have a strong leadership, and to make China more sustainable in the rapidly changing economy.

A communique was issued outlining the future developments of the party, and approving new regulations to improve party discipline. The highlight of the meeting was elevation of Xi Jinping as the ‘core’ leader and all members should “closely unite around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core.”

According to reports on various outlets, the committee agreed to continue the anti-corruption campaign, aimed at strengthening and standardising political life within the party. The high profile meeting of the 18th central committee also set dates for the next year’s 19th central committee meeting to the second half of 2017.
